Stuttgart of all places is having old cars in the X-hairs

#1 Post by Steven Murray »

Hope they don't start sending the 356's to the crusher. Some protest in Stuttgart today.

I had problems in Germany with their requirement of an umveltplakette, I rented a brand new gas car in the UK (a SKoda?) but it didn't come with the German pollution sticker so many cities had a 70Euro fine despite that it was findernail new. Paris has a ban on pre-1996 cars, when i was in Paris around 2011 I saw an old 911 right away and some super curvey early 60's Alfa. How cool was that. For now, the US seems to give old cars 'the grandfather clause'.

The Stuttgart ban is just on old diesel cars.
After pushing diesel for years they are trying to get people to junk them in order to get emissions down or they face big fines from the EU.
Pity all the regular people who bought what are now worthless cars.
