Vic I think you are assuming they would be looking at the discussion with a balanced view not just picking out any details which helps them :)

Hi
I guess the buyer is a Ferrari guy and thinks that the original manufacturer is the final word. Jerry's guys probably know more than 99.7% of the Porsche guys about a 4-Cam GT.

If you google "Fica Frio collection" you'll see images of about equal numbers of Porsches and Ferraris, but the Porsches (aside from one green Speedster) ar '70s and later race cars.

I can not vouch for this car but I have been led to believe it was at Gary Kemptons before European. Kempton should have done it correctly http://www.gkrestorations.com/articles- ... ick-koenig

James,

The 1st Kardex shown, 84108 has a slight misprint; the --1--is really a 9. 84108 isn't listed as a Carrera Speedster.

The first Kardex does say 84908. It is not a misprint with the “1”. The “9” is just not pressed down far enough so it is hard to see the entire number. But it does read 84908

Thanks Dick. I think I mistyped it myself, without doing the full mental check. =)

84908 is listed as a GS/GT Carrera Speedster in Steve Heinrich's Typ 540 book and also in his Carrera book. I wonder what seems to be the problem?

so i assume the issue is that this speedster was a GS that returned to the factory at some point for the GT treatment to become a GS/GT?

Doesn't seem to me like a court would call that a compelling problem, but Jerry would probably like to get this solved sooner than later.

Curiouser and curiouser as Alice said. I thought European Collectibles had a good rep.

The plot thickens!

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm thinking Jerry will have to make it good if it is not an accurate sale, then sue European Collectibles. There's also the question about whether there was a Porsche COA or Kardex, which could really cause some problems for other investors if the COA was not forged. Of course, there is also the possibility that the buyer may have signed an acknowledgement that there was no certification of authenticity. Interesting that we don't get any details from the media reports. MUD! What a shame.

Does Jerry's lawsuit pinpoint what the problem is?

All we can do is speculate at this point. I think we have established that the vin in question is a real GT. If I would have to venture a guess I would say that this might be about a vin transplant, however the engine (why does the car have front coolers) still remains a question mark also. Time will tell
