Parking brake

#1 Post by Alan Close »

I have a '56 coupe with one driver side parking brake that does not do the job. I know how to adjust the driver side brake but one brake will not hold the car securely. It's a studly beast and wants to move. I have a cable ready to install, but I am unable to find in my books or on the web any description of how to do the installation. Can somebody lead me to a site that helps, or give me some tips as to how to go about doing it correctly. Do I need a second smaller cable? Alan Close, El Cerrito, CA

Here's a few pages from Elfrink. Not too comprehensive but at least it's a start. Mine is the later Tee-handle (58 A) so I can't be of much assistance with the earlier lever type in your 56.

A 56 is still a T-handle. The pre-A were lever type.
