356 C, the W/W bottle strap broke after only 15 years that I know about (darn cheap materials!)
Is it muscles-only to install the new one, or is there a trick I'm not seeing?

Re: Fitting water bottle strap
I've attached the strap first then finagled the washer bottle under it.

Re: Fitting water bottle strap
Ron,
The strap is cut as a loop and it's difficult to fit over the reservoir w/its double thickness; No reason to be that tight!
I cut the loop in 1/2 so just 1-strip will hold the reservoir, fold over the end(s) on the hook(s) and staple them--they can't be seen
when hooked. OR, just cut a strip to suit, staple per above instructions, and hook-up the reservoir.

Re: Fitting water bottle strap
You guys are the reason I come here.
You're right, Dick, that thing isn't restraining 80# under 5G loads. Plus, I can try the snapped (original?) 'rubber band' with staples or cyanoacrylate (moving the stress points away from the bales) to see how it works.
The repro part has what looks like Cu-plated bales; my original Cd(?)-Zn(?) parts are in fine shape and they can be reused.
I'll have the purchased repro band as a back up, and give Mike's suggestion a try when/if the 'bandaid' fails.

Re: Fitting water bottle strap
You're right about the bales; wrong plating for a 356. I have them cad-plated.

Ron, that strap is a bugger. I applied some 303 Protectant to the rubber strap and installed it first, like Mike suggested, then installed the bottle while the 303 was still wet. Soapy water should work OK, too. It's a PITA to install and only slightly easier the following times. That bottle won't be going anywhere, even when the next Cascadia quake hits.
