I don't know if it's the best and I'm sure you will get other suggestions but I like the Cover Craft evolution. Thicker so it offers better protection and you can order mirror pockets, etc. They even made it slightly longer to accommodate a luggage rack.

I have the Auto Chic (www.autochic.com)

It's 100% Cotton Flannel light weight interior cover (dust cover). Custom made to fit your 356. Washable, easy to put on/off and store. Woven Construction With Complete Breathability.

I also have an Auto Chic 100% Cotton Flannel light weight interior cover. It works like a champ.

Auto Chic cotton flannel as well, it is super soft.

I use CoverCraft on my other cars and I'm very happy with them.

I went with the Porsche cover for my Cabrio. Suncoast Porsche has the best price
on this but it's still pretty pricey!

plain old cotton no lining in the summer, flannel will leave lint on the top. i use a car capsule for her 6 months of beauty sleep over the winter. The best part of the car capsule is everyday i walk past the car i can enjoy looking at her, puts a smile on my face every day .. seriously :) well worth the $300 to buy and the $2.50 a week to run.
