Hello all,
Too much air into the left carb, cannot balance to obtain idle. I checked eveything I can think of ?
Any thoughts appreciated!

Random thoughts...
Base plate not flat
Matching surfaces on manifold not flat
Gaskets leaking
Worn throttle plate shaft
Loose or missing screws on body
Missing carb seal somewhere
I think one trick to check for leaks is to spray around the carb to see if it perks up. Google the topic to see what to spray as I can't remember and don't want to give incorrect advice.

Mike has pretty well covered the possibilities but have the carbs been apart or are they a used set you have not used before?

Re: 40 pbic air leak
Aluminum manifolds generally stay in shape and don't warp vs 'pot-metal' carbs which tend to get outta flatness from over-tightening
Other than the sand-cast Solex carbs (for Carreras), I've refinished many Solex "feet" over many years and just torque the nuts to 15 ft.lbs.
and using the original thin gaskets and never the thick ones. I never refinished single-throat Solexes, but I don't get into them very much.

Are the rubber tubes at the end of the metal "balance tubes" present and not cracked and leaking?

Also check your throttle linkage adjustment. It might be holding one carb up off of the idle screw.
Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.....
