+1 on what Sean said. Add in that almost every engine has been rebuilt by now and if they were all run on a dyno I am sure that some C engines would be better than some SC engines. And CJ probably has the Dyno runs to prove it. Back in the Mid 80s I had a nice SC built with a Big Bore kit. Quite peppy. I followed a certain Blue SC sunroof coupe onto the straight away at Grattan and watched him pull away like I had a Normal. Driver was Lou Livingood(sp) After our run group pitted I asked how he did that? He had a Skirmants built E production motor. It looked just like my SC motor. But they sure weren't twins.

it's more about build numbers than power in my humble opinion. i think C production was 75% and 25% SC making the SC the rarer car. I also believe the Hagerty difference is much too high. Their SC numbers are a bit nuts. $280k for a #1??

Jim Alton wrote:I dunno. I'd expect a significant bump for an SC vs. a C, but 90% is more than I'd have guessed. But, only 34% of 356Cs were SCs. Porsche actually built more 2.7 Carrera RSs in 1973 than 2.4 911Ss and look at the price difference there.

It is pretty clear that Hagerty hasn't got a large data set with huge statistical significance: they don't quote any values for a '65 C (as opposed to an SC).

What really amazes me about Hagerty's values is they estimate $ 7,000 more for a cabriolet with a detachable hardtop. Not counting the ultra-rare detachable hardtops with sunroofs, you can get a lot of detachable hardtops for $ 7,000.
Hagerty does indeed quote C vs SC for 65. They refer to the C as base and SC as SC https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationt ... rsche/356C

It wasn't actually a full E-Prod engine; just an Isky 1010A cam, 10.4:1compression, and a light massaging on the heads.
Glad you liked it!

Is Hagerty Valuation a pretty good starting point?
2 cars I'm trying to get values for:
61' B Super Coupe Average or Good on Hagerty's: $60500
64' C Cab, Average or Good on Hagerty's: $78,300 seems low for a Cab.. And a 64' SC Cab is almost double at $149k

Bill

and then a Bt6 cab with a 1600S in good condition is valued at $111,000 - 30k more than a similar C.. I think those numbers are bogus.

I agree, something does seam wrong with 64' - 65' C (Base) Cab's
What's odd is they show history back 2 1/2 years with similar results. You would think history would come from actual data from sales..
 Thanks,
