Stafano: I bought some reproductions about ten years ago, and they had cheese head screws. The one here has a round head screw, which I would take to be of the original style. Is there a bulb in it?

They all had cheese head screws, at least the ones in cars I've restored. …...Jim.

Oh no! Another cheese head screw to worry about.

That screw clamping the wire is pretty small--the original could easily have been lost and replaced by someone more concerned about making the light work than having the perfect DIN cheese head. I wouldn't take that as proof either way of original versus reproduction.

Looking at the profile of the lens, it appears to rise above the radius of the aluminum top. The ones I am familiar with have a lens following the same radius as the surrounding aluminum top. So, not sure when it was made or by whom, but it looks slightly different than the ‘53-‘54 originals I am familiar with.

Original lens shape vintage '52-'55. Earlier ones were different.

looks to be a re-pro, the originals have a fully domed head no flat spot, the glass lens follows the contour of the dome where as the re-pros the lens sticks out like a nipple .
