Reutter Certificate of Production
Received the Reutter Certificate of Production for my speedster today. Beautiful! Lots of useful info. Took about 3 1/2 weeks total, one week of which was being stuck in customs due to the "partial government shutdown".

How to source this certificate? Cost? What will be shown different then the COA?

There are several threads with details on the cost, how to order, and some reports of inconsistent fulfillment:steve raucher wrote:How to source this certificate? Cost? What will be shown different then the COA?

Re: Reutter Certificate of Production
Guys, I have these records sent to me for all my restorations. Guido Eickholz prepares them and presents them in a beautiful folder, in color. He will be attending the Lit Meet this year, and I hope he will be at my shop Sat. afternoon. The cost is $500 and well worth it for any full on restoration, or just records.

Re: Reutter Certificate of Production
I ordered one of these a few years back. Although there was a bit of a wait it was a beautiful package when it arrived. I question the accuracy of what Guido said was the interior color of my particular car, though. When we did the restoration there was no doubt that it had the original carpet in it and it was Black/Gray while the document from Guido said it was supposed to be Oatmeal. I don't know why there was a discrepancy. I guess there's nothing for sure when it comes to documentation on these cars!

Re: Reutter Certificate of Production
Nick, you are correct, not all of the "factory" documentation is correct. I got a Kardex for a Speedster (for a client) that had the paint as sahara. This would have been very rare. All other documentation seemed to indicate black. The Reutter book confirmed the original black paint. I have see some paint badges stamped incorrectly. I do not have full documentation, but it seems that two 911 got the same VIN stamp. So factory workers made errors.
The Reutter certificate is almost an essential piece of information for a 356. It has so much information that is not available elsewhere.

Re: Reutter Certificate of Production
Guys, the records don't always reflect reality. I just acquired a '54 Coupe, and the C of A says it is a Carmen Coupe. I just ordered the Reutter documents from Guido. ….Jim.

I have to ask, does the CofA really say "Carmen" or did autospell take things from bad to worse?Jim Liberty wrote:Guys, the records don't always reflect reality. I just acquired a '54 Coupe, and the C of A says it is a Carmen Coupe. I just ordered the Reutter documents from Guido. ….Jim.

Re: Reutter Certificate of Production
Yes Jim, it does say "Karmann" on the C. of A. Probably the worst error of many, I've seen on these documents. Almost as bad as mine. Not only am I dyslexic, I can't spell.………..Jim.
