Transmission noise

Happy New Year all,
The other day while driving my baby (‘60 roadster), I noticed “squeal” that sounded like it was coming from the transmission, but only in 4th gear under load. I subconsciously think I vaguely remember that sound at some point previously, but I can’t be sure. Anyway, not sure if I should be concerned or not. Any ideas? Tia.

First thing to do is check the transmission oil level. Work from there.

Oil on clutch disc causing slippage? Would be most noticeable in 4th gear.

Bill,
Is your front mount the single version?
If so in 4th gear the shifter may be adjusted on the snug side and under load the movement of the nose cone up/down
is causing the shift fork to pull the slider and the synchros are complaining.
Do check the oil level now.

I would think the throw bearing is the cause.

I have a 1960 Roadster with a 3/60 "birthday" according to my COA and it is a dual mount transmission if that is of any help. Good luck!

Jon, I don’t know the dob, but mine is a single mount. Thanks though!
