I have used after market and original senders and haven't had a problem fitting the ring. However, after looking at your parts again, your ring doesn't look like the one you show in the Samba picture. Correct? If so, it won't fit. The correct ring is the one in the Samba pic.

Mike,

At present I only have the aftermarket sender unit and VDO cap.

The picture in the samba add is what I believe I need.

I just don't think it would fit on top of my sender unit, the plastic part looks like it would obstruct the fitment.

Maybe I am wrong, it just looks as if there is not enough clearance.

Hi Mike,

Yes thats the one I found and used as the picture in the initial thread.

I have the cap, its just the ring I need.

I am still not convinced though that this ring will fit with the aftermarket sender that I have.

I would like to hear from anyone that has used one of these aftermarket senders like the one I have.

Have they been able to slip the original ring onto the sender without any clearance issues.

Mike,

Once again thanks for details and the picture,

This looks like my sender and clearly shows the ring fitting.

I know this is not the place for wanted adds however I also know a lot of people do not browse the wanted adds.

When I dont need anything I tend not to look myself.

I am looking for a sender unit dated latish 63 to early Jan 64.

Because it is so specific I thought I would try this as an option.

I also require the round ring as per above which goes on the sender.

If you have one you are willing to sell please get in touch.

If necessary I think a bit of filing of the plastic would insure that the ring would fit the white sending unit. Looks like it wouldn't take much.
