Deluxe Horn Ring Ebay

#1 Post by robert e gwaltney »

afternoon all, i have a 62 B Super coupe, am changing out original steering wheel with one of Jeffrey Fellman's wheels that accepts the deluxe horn ring. i am not doing a concours car, just want it to look and function like its supposed to. can someone check out the horn ring at link below to ebay and let me know if it looks ok and/or they know the seller, its considerably cheaper than stoddard, thanks, robb gwaltney

Probably the repro that was available from Stoddard. The seller has sold many items and you can check his feedback which shows 100% positive.

Make sure you factor into the price that you have to buy the horn button and all the guts and screws, it adds up.

Yes, if you have a regular horn button you can probably transfer the guts depending on how dry the washers and rubber cup are.

It admits to being a reproduction. I thought about getting one for my '65 C when I first bought the car. The first Porsche parts expo I went to there was a horn ring for $150.00 that I thought was too much money! Ha, ha, they're now up to $400.00. What decided me to not get one is that I knew from the dealership that the spokes breaking was not uncommon, so I passed.

Tom's part is really good, I have them on two of my cars, 65 Sc that that was the only option and a 60 cabriolet, with a Carrera wheel I took from a speedster with a t-5 front end spliced onto it!

this is a genuine Carrera wheel that I was very fortunate to find. The master Bruce Crawford redid it for me

My first 356 came with half a horn ring. This was in 1970. The prior owner had removed the top of the ring above the horizontal bars. The car was definitely not concours as it had no chrome. Knowing nothing about 356s, I thought that it maybe it had broken off but then I decided that the PO wanted the useless part of the ring out of the view of the gauges. Back in the day, no one really thought about authenticity.

I have Tom's repro horn ring on one C coupe and an original on the other C coupe.
I can't tell them apart.

I do worry at times about my original one when the grand kids get in the car and 'drive it'.
