Hi Stefano
the spec book(p 84 85) says 553 25mm. the A and most later 627 24 or 23(with compensator) but I believe it is error the C bars should be shorter unless the compensator is used then back to the 627 bar.

Hi Jacques and Stefano, Pre-A bars are short 25mm. A cars got longer(softer) bars as did B cars, then the C went back to short bars that were even softer(thinner).

If you want to improve a Pre-A a lot soften both ends. Try softening the rear first to see what you think of the balance.

Interesting that as the cars got heavier, the torsion bars got lighter, and the handling got better.

You should measure the other bar in case it is not the original one. Be sure they are identical. I may be imagining this, but I think they are stamped on the end as to which side of the car they go on.

I don't think they stamped them until the C model.

The information from Jacques is correct. The recommendation to go softer is also good, regarding handling and ride comfort, but original was short and stiff.
