1958 T2 Speedster Steering Wheel

I am putting a stock wheel back on a stock 1958 speedster. I assume it originally had a horn ring, as there are two wires and two boxes with the brushes on the column.

My question is, 400mm or 420mm wheel? I have looked back through many threads and this topic is touched on, but with no real concrete answers. I understand that the 420mm was an option in 1958, but what would most likely be on a speedster with a horn ring?

In one thread I read that the 400mm doesn't work well with the ring, as the ring is too close to the wheel. Another thread says that the 420mm steers like a boat.
