Finding owner of a Continental Coupe

Hi folks,

I was speaking with my neighbor tonight and talking about a couple of my cars. He mentioned his grandfather had purchased a 55 continental coupe in Europe and had driven it around Northern California until he was about 80 years old. He mentioned he has the original bill of sale for the car so thought that was very unique.

Does anyone know if there is a way to locate who may own the car or what paths to even begin checking? The car was SN #54143 if that happens to be anyone on here. Probably a wild goose chase but thought I would ask -- thanks a bunch in advance!

For searches of the California DMV records, use CA DMV form INF-70.
