rear body emblem holes?
I have a 1959 coupe that i am restoring.
The rear body required a section.
i have a rear section from a 1959 cabrio.
Would they be the same?
There are more holes in the cabio piece for emblems. Any idea what emblem they were for?
my coupe has 7 holes and the cabrio has 9 holes for emblems.
the holes below the emblems for the license plate light are the other mystery.

Unless I'm not seeing something, the shine up light would have the three small holes for the bulb bracket studs and the larger hole above them for the electrical wire to the bulbs.
The holes above for the PORSCHE script and 1600 or 1600 Super.

Re: rear body emblem holes?
the license plate location on the brown rear clip has the two mounting holes closer together. Any significance?

Re: rear body emblem holes?
The mounting holes for the license pate bracket are spaced where I have seen most. About three inches center to center.

As far as the license plate bracket, no, and I don't believe the location of the other scripts differed either.

Every Tom, Dick, and Harry installed license brackets over the years.
Generally, a dealer installed item.
Fill them and suit yourself as to location.
Many 356's don't use a bracket.

Re: rear body emblem holes?
coupe rear clips are not the same as cabrio.
different profile on the rear fenders
different rear deck lid opening.
if you want to slice and dice and weld you could make it fit, but you will end up using more bondo than expected.
T5 rear clip is not the same as a T6 either

Therefore I will only use the part of the donor panel to fill in the area missing. No more, no less.

how does one go about the correct curvature on the rear end? So many projects have them pushed in etc.

Re: rear body emblem holes?
for the section that i used, would the holes below the taillights be the same location between 59 coupe and 59 cabrio?
