55 Speedster and 62 Twin grille Roadster

#1 Post by Rusty Ferrell »

Going through some of the papers and folders regarding the above cars I found a few pics from what I can tell are from the mid seventies. Here are a couple of them.

Thanks Edwin, I finally scraped enough money together to bring the TG home. Just need to make a little space.

The previous owner had good taste! What a treat to see those two models nose to tail. Now you have to post a current photo staged the same way.

Rusty,
Did you find any pictures of any of the other cars. I know the A Coupe is now undergoing a full restoration, the new owner would probably love to see some pics.

Like about every Speedster owner who drove the thing, I see he arranged some side curtains which might have kept the sparrows out and maybe even some of the rain.

The top and side curtains on the Speedster were designed at four o'clock on a Friday afternoon. Coincidentally, the same exact time that they designed the top for my old Austin-Healey 100.
Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.....

Adam, I do have a few pics of the 58 coupe. The folks purchased that car in 1960 and was their daily driver until the bought the Speedster.
Side curtain definitely home made.

ImageI’ve started with the reassembly process on the 62 Roadster. If anyone has detailed pics of various component assembly it would be much appreciated. Looking at doing an initial top assembly and it seems to attach to the chassis with an external threaded steel plate. Don’t have the B supplement that may show the T6. Also, one of the fresh air threaded rod is damaged and needs replacing. I’ve just started this process and no othe twin grilles to look over in the tidewater area. Email any pics you may have that you are willing to share.

Couple pics, since the twin grille is just a shell maybe I’ll build it as a C2. Just dreaming.
The flag came with the cars. The owner has a letter from Porsche authorizing them to make it. Guess I’ll be okay to display it in the shop.
