I have a few entries on my Kardex that I am trying to figure out. One is under Special Equipment (Sonderousfuhrung/Sonderausstattung) it says: verchr.Lochscheibenrader
Anyone?

Paul, I sent you an email but for anyone interested, "chrome plated wheels". Charlie White's site has a good list of the options on a Kardex.

All the best,

Mike

Thanks Mike-
I have all the rest figured out except two things
1. Under Poisterung it says Kuns.tl.rehbraun
I understand this is regards the interior and Kuns.tl. translates loosely to leatherette.vinyl
Guessing rehbraun is the color of the carpet and translates to "tan"???
2. Wagenouslleferung is what? My entry is 2801

I would post a photo of the actual Kardex, but that would give the world a look at my ignition key info!

A child could steal any 356 in 30 seconds, but I get it.

Rehbraun is "fawn"

Wagen is "car". Nor sure what wagenous is. Lieferung is "delivery". The number doesn't make sense to me.

The section on the Kardex is for "car delivery". I have a different number on my Kardex.
Since both our cars were delivered to Competition Motors in Culver City, the numbers must not correlate to the handler/dealer.

Paul, count yourself lucky to have anything on the Kardex to translate. Attached is a picture of mine, not exactly a mine of information, except to see it had practically no options. Does not even designate it as being a 59 model although it does have the tag next to the fuel tank. When did they start building 59 models, was it July or September? My radio was an AM Sapphire, same as fitted to VW's of the same era by the dealer.

Word is actually Wagenauslieferung = delivery document for customs

Kind of interesting how these were put together. I get it that these were warranty cards, not build cards, but on mine I have the following:
Farbe (which refers to exterior paint): irischgrun 6406 K. The K designated Fawn interior.
Why then under Poisterung would it have rehbraun? That would be two references to the vinyl color and none to the tan carpet. Oh well....

Thanks for the info, Brad. The number must be a shipping invoice number.
David: it seems the earlier cars had limited info on the Kardexes. I have a friend that had a '59 cab and his Kardex was pretty limited on info.

Reh indeed means fawn, or baby deer. Braun of course means brown.

Not all Kardexes have a letter code (for upholstery color) after the paint code. Mine doesn't. It does report, in the Polsterung box, the color and material for the interior.

Thanks everyone. Very helpful info.! I have it all translated now. The car is as original as I thought, so that is good news. Only mystery is why a guy living one mile from Trans Ocean Motors in Pasedena would drive across town, through Los Angeles, past other Porsche dealerships, and buy the car at Competition Motors in Culver City. If he worked near there, that was a pretty good distance commute back in 1965.

Guess I can sell off my Trans Ocean, Pasadena license plate frame and start looking for Competiton Motors, Culver City.

Better price explains the drive.

Ok, despite the fact that kids around Cliff can steal my 356 now, attached is a photo of my Kardex. (smile Cliff).

I typed in translation of the items that were filled in.
