Here is an example of the one Stoddard sells on my car ('56 A coupe).
Notice no serrations on the outer diameter.
Better than nothing, but not correct.

Re: Luggage Rack Hole Plugs
Admittedly, the current hole plugs are not correct but the only type of plug currently manufactured. As you can imagine, this type of molded nylon is produced in the thousands on expensive tooling, making a reproduction out of the question. Yes, years ago we were able to get a similar plug from a German source which had the serrations but the top had a hole in it.
Anybody for 3D printing? that might be the way to make a short run of this plug.
All the originals I found had body paint on the heads. I assumed that the plugs were to keep the paint out of the threads.

Re: Luggage Rack Hole Plugs
Hi Chip
The extra holes are on the racks flat bar. They are drilled to accommodate fixing to twin grills or single. The support bolts go through special tubes that are threaded into the flat bar. Thus leaving extra holes. I would assume when fitting a rack the plastic plugs are removed and placed into these extra holes in the rack. Just seems German to place them there so you don't or won't lose them.
