Info about Pre-A 1953 - VIN 50693 - wanted

Dear all

Please help.
1953 PreA VIN 50693, paint Palm Green was offered in Netherlands - VIN number was welted in, seems to be manipulation. Shell shows no other signs besides the VIN number that the car is a real 1953 Pre-A.

If any body can give me an information about the car I would highly appreciate that.

Thanks for your support

Bernd

Pictures please. Dash, rockers, battery box area, under the front axle, turn signal location, etc. We all can help decode the car better with pictures, unless of course someone knows the particular VIN. The car in my avatar is 50584.

Bernd,
First, welcome. Jim and others here are very knowledgeable regarding the early cars.
BUT in some jurisdictions, modifications which have altered the VIN are illegal on their own, regardless of claimed intent. The laws are not always enforced, but vehicles can be and have been confiscated as a result.
I do not claim any sort of knowledge WRT early cars, but I would not touch a car with a welded-in VIN with a 10' pole, let alone anything in my wallet.

I have 50693 as having the wrong dash and having engine number 31516. When I looked at pictures of this car it had considerable modifications. I think part of this car was a 53 but has had a lot of other pieces incorporated into what was left of the 53. Can you post whatever pictures you have of this car?

Also see registry Volume 42 number 3 page 52... the chassis number is not given but looks like the same car... I would ping Adam and he can probably tell you more about that car than anybody...
I think the car in the registry article is 51590...

Yeah, 50693 went through Adam Wright's shop recently. Unobtanium Inc. I'm sure he can tell you about it. Looked to be a bit of a Frankenstein to me.

Hi Bernd

Did you get a title with the car or
just Bill of Sale?

Curious if previous owner and seller
Adam Wright had an explanation or opinion
about altered chassis number when he bought
it and subsequently conveyed
the automobile to next owner? He may also
know others in the chain of ownership who can
help. It's a rather serious issue.

Yes, I have spoken to Bernd, told him the ownership going back all the way to Gary Emory's front yard.
But thanks for your concern Tim.

I remember that car. Here’s a pic I took back in 2011 when visiting the Emory’s.
