cost to repair/rebuild

#1 Post by David Stieber »

What is the cost these days to rebuild a 641 transmission including replacing a worn flywheel and clutch?
In a 356 Convertible I have been quoted $12,000. Seems kind of high?

Where are you located? Check with Willswerks in Alexandria VA.

Will you be removing and reinstalling the transmission? Or will you just drop car off and pay? At $80-100+ an hour things ad up. Call Vic at 356 enterprises and ask him. Unless you are in the Southwest of course. I think Vic charges about 900 plus parts for transmission rebuild if you drop it off. I do know people send their cars to him on a trailer and have him do it all also so he can give you a basic quote. Location would help of course.

If in good condition, not needing expensive parts, I pay $2/3K. …………..Jim.
