Hubcap Crest restoration

#1 Post by Robert Nio »

Hello:

I am restoring a 1962 Super 90 and the hubcap crests needs restoration. I purchased new ones but the quality is not there and there are large differences from the original. Can anyone help me with a name and number of a person that can restore mine?

Thank you

So the crests can be restored? How is it done, replated and new enamel?

There used to be a guy Down Under that restored the cloisonné badges, etc. not sure if he is still around.

Sadly, the guy down under that Mike mentions in his post has passed away.

There was a woman in OC, I think Kara was her name and she would do the Bentley Grill badge with the closenet (sp). Christensen may have her info if she is still around.

Thank you. I will see if I can get her contact information. So far, I have not found a person that can do the restoration.

As a suggestion, perhaps there is an adult education school near you that has a class in enameling (tole?) and the instructor can be of help?
