Dumb question I'm sure:
Are original oil coolers painted or left bare metal?
My cooler from my '65C coupe appeared to have a light coat of silver paint on it before stripping and cleaning and I've reapplied a light coat again. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be painted or not but I'd think it would slow corrosion from forming on the outside if it was painted.
My biggest concern is affecting the cooling efficiency of the cooler if it's not supposed to have any paint on it.
Pleased let me know and thanks in advance.
Greg
