Mr. Weiss,
Any update on what parts you make to repair worn flapper boxes?
Mr. Ladow,
Any luck getting pictures of the parts you make as well?

Re: Can you rebuild a heater flapper box?
I earlier offered info on 'rebuilding' the axle/tin interface and lacking vid capabilities got nowhere until Greg gave me an elbow in the ribs. I think this drawing gets the point across.
Ab will take some points off if he sees it, but it's worked on several engines in my experience:
OK, "file size it too large". Thanks. I'll see if I can reduce it without losing info...
But, ya know, this is not professional, dammit.
Nope; next try. Only took three tries. I'll remember that next time someone asks for info.
BTW, Greg, you mentioned another repair issue. Send me some pics and I see if I can help directly, rather than trying to size the image here.

Re: Can you rebuild a heater flapper box?
Greg,
Sorry being late in answering your question--I was attending the annual Race Reunion event in Put-In-Bay, Lake Erie last week
and been busy catching up w/messages and local events.
I've been having problems w/sending photos via emails and getting my computer straightened out. Adding a little tab to get the shaft supported to resist the tension/return spring to the side which gets worn, I just shape a little 90 degree tab and
pop rivet it in place.

Re: Can you rebuild a heater flapper box?
Hey Guru s
Is it possible to replace the rubber seal on the front valve of the flapper box??
Seems that the set up will not allow it to be done. Are those parts available??
Doing things while engine out.

Re: Can you rebuild a heater flapper box?
It has been done, there was a RestoStrips article in the magazine awhile ago.
These posts show that it has been done but not much in the way of actual photos etc:

There were references to Stoddard's having the seal material but I couldn't find it on their website. I think the silicone sheet (baking sheet) that Dick Weiss references makes a lot of sense and it will take heat.
