GT Gas Tank Repairs
Anyone have any experience with unsweating the sides off of a Schmidt GT tank? Any recommendations? It looks as if one might be able to heat up and remove the soldered on sides.

Better be very certain it has been aired out and evaporated properly before applying any heat to it. I know of many people who have been badly injured trying to work (weld, cut, etc...) used gas tanks.

You use an old fashion giant soldering iron. The 2" square, 3" long pointed brick of copper heated in a flame. You melt the solder and suck it off with a vacuum or wicked away with a fluxed thick copper braid cable that looks like a battery ground strap.
There might be a metal roofer over on the penuslia that has the tools. Someone that does copper roofs or a steeple Jack will have the stuff. I just gave mine away with my black smith shop 6 months ago.
I am over on Whidbey if you want to try to remove the end wall your self. Get the tools give me a call
