Heater rods for a C coupe

#1 Post by Bob Morris »

Just received new heater rods from Abe, but don't know which side the longer rod goes on and do the slightly upturned ends go towards the front or back and do they point up or down. I searched all my manuals and could not find an answer.

The bent end goes to the engine. The left 3/4 side of the engine is visibly forward of the other side and gets the short rod. The bend changes the direction to the side, not up and down.

If you laying under the car, #1 rule is: the rod end with the kink go to the flapper boxes. Rule #2 is: the long rod goes on numbers 1-2 cylinders (because that side of the engine is further to the rear -- see firing order diagram) up to the heater valve can. See diagram and photo below.

Thanks for the information and photos. Will try to install them this weekend. T
Have to get the hay out of my pastures before tackling this job.
