Lost turn signals and brake light
My 65 SC has lost it’s turn signals and stop lights. I’ve checked the normal culprits such as all of the bulbs affected, replaced the 6 V flasher and replaced the fuse in number 1 position after checking all of the fuses which all looked OK. Wiring harness is new German because this is a recent full professional restoration (290/300 at Porsche Parade) so what have I missed. The turn signal lever on the steering wheel functions for bright lights and to flash the bright lights. I’m out of ideas and need your expertise. Thank You

Did you check to ensure you're getting voltage out of the switch lever to the brake lights and the turn signals? Pretty much everything goes through that switch. When I had this issue I checked to make sure I had volts out of the switch before it gets to the bulbs.

Re: Lost turn signals and brake light
Do you have power at fuse #1 with the key on? At both ends? Check with a test light or a volt meter.
The other circuit powered by fuse #1 is the back up lights. Does it work?
Fuse #1 is powered from the #15 terminal on the ignition switch, look to see if you have a good connection there.
Fuse #1 only has power with the key on.
Since neither the turn signals nor the brake lights are working, the first step is to make sure they are getting power at the common point at fuse #1.
The turn signals and brakes come together at the turn signal switch and each input goes through an in-line connector before going into the switch - make sure the bullets are firmly seated in the connector.
The switch itself could be bad, but it's unusual for it to be completely dead - usually one side or something will work in one of the circuits.
Good luck!

How do you get to the turn signal switch? I’ll start checking under the dash to see if everything is still connected and use my test light to see if fuse #1 is hot with the key on. Thanks for the help, I’ll keep trying.

Re: Lost turn signals and brake light
Well guess what? I had a loose connection at the key switch and it popped back in and now I have turn signals again! I’ll check the brake lights and continue my search for any other loose connections. It was so hot at Parade that it literally melted my Valentine 1 suction cup bracket in the 911 that my son drove so I guess I should of expected a bit of trouble. Car ran beautifully there and back but it was nice having the 911 for a little a/c. Thank you fellas. I knew you could help me figure it out!

Re: Lost turn signals and brake light
The turn signals and brake lights are back to normal and I thought that was it but now the turn signal indicator in the bottom of the tach is not flashing. Another loose wire or do I need to replace the bulb? How do you access this bulb in the tach body. I didn’t feel any sockets on the back of the tach. Any suggestions? Thanks

Re: Lost turn signals and brake light
On the "C" the connection to the turn signal light is via a push on connector so is easy to check. The bulb holder pushes in to the tach housing so all you have to do is pull the bulb holder out then disconnect the push on connector and test the bulb on the bench with a multimeter. All the bulbs were the same type in all the instruments originally but now LED replacements are available. Originally 0.6 watts for illumination and 1.2 watts for warning lights.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.
