Doug: I don't think Ron does that any longer. I asked a couple of years ago and he said he just builds "widgets" now. Too bad.

Re: Zenith Carburetor Rebuilder Recommendations
Thanks guys.
Yeah, some years back, it became obvious that as much as I enjoyed figuring out and fiddling with the carbs, my time was better spent devising and producing 'widgets'.
Looks like it was a good decision; folks seem to be finding them to their satisfaction.
added by edit: I do need to get the reference to the carbs off the vendor list.

Re: Zenith Carburetor Rebuilder Recommendations
If you need a thread repair at the spring interface bracket, ask how they will repair it. I offer two options; both options use a stainless steel threaded insert often called "Helicoils".Gene Wesolaski wrote:Greeting,

Option one retains the original obsolete French standard thread, 5mm x 0.9 mm pitch. With this option you can use the original fastener.
Option two uses a UNC No. 10-32 thread form. With this option you must use a fastener which embodies this thread form. A fastener satisfying this requirement, is longer and cannot be distinguished from the original, when installed, is available. If you are close to the DC area, Tim Benardelli Racing can help you.
If not, you can purchase the fastener and find your own machine shop to do the request machining operation to install the thread insert. Just about every machine shop in the USA can install the insert and will have the tooling and even the insert.
To my knowledge, the fasteners used in option one can be obtained from many sources, but all supply the same fastener--perhaps very different prices. Again, to my knowledge, there is only one source in the USA for the 5mm x 0.9 mm pitch threaded insert.[not a "close" insert that is forced, very carefully, to work utilizing custom fabricated, expensive thread insert tooling for the correct thread form.] If you go to France, there is at least one source and possibly more.
If you choose option two, another dilemma presents. Many, many, many places for the threaded insert/installation, but very few places [maybe two] for the "look alike" fastener.
edit: I do not re-manufacture carburetors.

+1 for 356 Carburetor Rescue. Sent a sad pair to them, got back carbs that just needed to be put on. Adjustments were spot on.
Helpful on the phone with my questions.
