Loose steering wheel
Hi, I have a loose steering wheel issue on my 1960 Roadster. It's not back and forth--I just replaced the steering coupler last year. It's up and down and sideways. I know there is a bushing/bearing that appears to be shot. My question is, could the upper steering shaft bearing ($300.00+ at Stoddard) or the steering shaft bearing support ring ($25.00) be the issue? Or both? Thanks in advance for any help--

Re: Loose steering wheel
John the culprit is usually NOT the bearing. Doesn't mean it can't be the culprit in your case though. See this link: http://forum.porsche356registry.org/vie ... eel+wobble

Re: Loose steering wheel
Doug is correct. I'd check the clearances as mentioned in the thread.

And split ring is often installed incorrectly.
