Need paint color code

#1 Post by Dr. Wellington C. Morton »

The documentation, on my 1962B coupe reveals that the vehicle was Ruby with black vinyl interior. Does anyone know a current paint color that matches Ruby? The information for a Nason or PPG product would be preferred. Thank you, in advance, for your reply.

The paint code for ruby red is 5702 and if you go to a Sherwin Williams automobile paint store they can mix the paint to the original Glasurit specification.

For the '62 in the original question, paint code 6202 is correct (5702 is the Ruby Red code for '57-59 cars).

I am definitely no expert, but had I ever gotten around to painting my tub, I planned to use the spray out card I got from Willhoit (http://www.willhoitautorestoration.com/paintsamples.php). As I understand, most paint suppliers can very closely match color to a sample, and I think Wilhoit's samples are pretty much as close as you can get to the real deal. Only from my reading over the years, I think it is difficult to rely on an old paint code as a basis for a current match.
