Is this the original exhaust?

#1 Post by Richard Holler »

So I replaced the exhaust recently and debating refurbishing the old one. Can anyone confirm if this is the original exhaust or an aftermarket? Seems to have a bit of surface rust but everything seems pretty solid still. (no leaks or major damage) Any trick to removing the rust?

It looks original. It could be sandblasted to see if it is stamped Leistritz.

Where on the muffler would the Leistritz stamp be found?

Mine was on the inside left as you are looking at it.

Richard,

If the exhaust entry tube and outlet nipples are measured 40mm OD and 38mm ID .for the 1-3 J-pipe OD, it could be an original
Leitritz OEM muffler which looks like sufficient welding around the tubes and nipples; Also, Leitrriz's name would be on the
upper right side of #2 exit on the sheet metal surface. All the recent "crap" messages of the Dansk mufflers would have
40mm entry ID's which required their S-pipe kits having the same OD and larger clamps AND the #2 & #4 flanges NOT matching
parallelism to each other to the exhaust ports of the heads!

You cannot remove the rust from the inside of the muffler.
