Sealant between fuel pump and case?

#1 Post by Gordon Watkins »

I'm reinstalling fuel pumps on both a 1600 S (DVG) and a SC/912 (Pierberg) engine. Is it advisable to use sealant between the mating surfaces? As far as I can see the parts catalogue and shop manual, nor various Registry articles, makes no mention of a gasket between the pump and case but on disassembly my DVG appeared to have old sealant. I'm replacing the o-ring on the Pierberg. Should I apply a thin coat of anaerobic sealant?

The Pierberg seals via the O-ring in my experience; never used sealant, never had a leak.

Thanks guys.

How about the DVG? No sealant there either?
