Bob Chase - Greyeagle - Please read

#1 Post by E Rutherford »

So many times we read comments about a wonderful person that we lost within our Porsche community. That lost person never was able to read all of the nice things that were said about them and that to me seemed sad. So I thought I would write this now so my friend Bob Chase could see just how beloved he is within our Porsche Community and to lift his spirits up as he battles with some serious health issues.

For those who don't know Bob Chase by his real name, may know him as "the over rider bar guy" or "Greyeagle" and yes even "the bird something" guy. I would get calls from people wanting to know how get get in touch with him and they would use some of the funniest names trying to describe who he is and what he does.

Bob Chase had a niche in our Porsche community and filled a huge void by making the finest over rider bars for our 356A cars. They were perfect! Every single one was flawless. Those bar assemblies were his pride & joy. They were his signature. He absolutely loved what he was doing and it truly showed in his work.

Bob Chase is more than just "over rider Bob". He is a good honest hard working family man. So if you have one of Bob's creations, take a minute of your time and say thanks, I bet it would mean the world to him right now.

Ed's comments are spot-on. Bob's knowledge of 356 bumpers is unrivaled and his craftsmanship is incomparable. It's a special treat to have such an icon in the 356 community living close by in Bako. Wish I had photos showing these masterpieces mounted on my '58, but I'm still not there yet...

Bob has done great work for me too and was always a pleasure to deal with. One of the guys who made this hobby a pleasure. If I'm not mistaken he also had a very interesting background as a musician. Hang in there Bob and get well. We're all pulling for you.

A true craftsman and a great person.
I met him several times, dropping off bumpers in need of his expertise and picking them up
in perfect condition.
Hang in there, Bob, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Bob helped me earlier this year with two sets - including supplying an original 59 high bow! Great guy and thanks for what you do for our hobby! Best wishes and get better - don't make me switch back to nerf bars!

Bob recreated the bars for both the front and rear of my Speedster. He also swapped me the correct front guards. It all fits just like the originals. Thanks Bob for the great service. And I continue to enjoy wearing my " bar your tub" shirt. Wishing you a full recovery and beating any odds that are not in your favor. Hugs & love from one of many 356 owners you have supported over many years. KTF, Bill
