Old race movies

#1 Post by Adam Wright »

I mentioned this a couple of years ago, while researching my A Coupe that won at Daytona I came across a movie collection. The guy was an Air Force airman with weekends off, so he was at lots of races with his 8mm camera. I'm finally getting around to digitizing the collection, thanks Legacybox!
1st movie was Bridgehampton, anyone recognize the two Porsches, a Speedster and I think an RSK.

I'm hoping someone knows some of the other cars, that way when I get the filmed scanned for still pictures I can help some other people out too.

Hey Adam - I remember that, a white Coupe with cut rear wheel wells, if I recall correctly. When you say “won at Daytona”. You don’t mean the Daytona 500 do you? When I hear Daytona, that’s immediately what I think of.

Added by edit, COOL pics!!!

I stayed up too late watching these last night, and was rewarded with some great footage of King Carrera!

It wasn't a big Daytona race, just a SCCA regional. Here is the car running at Courtland and now, the restoration will be interesting. Also a shot of the driver, Jim Watson, winning in his Spyder.

There is a very cool video (I dont know if its been transfered to DVD)
"Hay Bales and Asphalt".
Its mostly Southern Calif. races in the 50`s
Carrol Shelby popping nitrocylerin (sp ?) because he was having a heart attack while he was driving !
It`s about 30 min long. I think I got it from Amazon.
Quite a few Porsches

I believe that Moss Motors had a DVD of races that were held at Monterrey prior to the opening of Leguna Seca. I loande mine to Don Marks and it disappeared when he left the earth. I would like to find a copy of this DVD. al zim 800.356.2964
