Full Vin # stamping

#1 Post by David Jones »

Question for all 356 owners but mostly T5 and T6
On some but not all 356`s the Full Chassis number is stamped vertically into the sheet metal of the body behind the R/H Hinge closing plate. The general motor industry term is, on the `A` Post (i.e. NOT the Aluminium closing panel)
My "A" cars do not have this # and from general reading of past questions it would seem it was only on post T5 cars but never say never as Porsche have been known to be inconsistent sometimes.
Those of you with a small Phillips screwdriver should be able to do it fairly quickly. If your car has been painted since leaving the factory it may be difficult to see so wear your reading glasses.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.
