1957 GS coupe for sale

Cool car, but difficult to imagine not being underwater for some time after restoration.

You never pay too much, you just sometimes buy too soon.

A cool car with history, would be a fun one to restore.

Well, it's in the Carrera book as a GS. I think that means it's a Carrera.

I raise a philosophical question. When is a car a Carrera? If the data plate reads GS, GT or GS/GT? if a 4-cam engine was originally installed from the factory? I have no beef with this car. Like its history but in my opinion (and I know what opinions are worth) how can it be a Carrera if it left the factory without a 4-cam engine installed?

The Factory built it as a Carrera, designated as such, isn't that enough?

They designated it a GS, where does it state that they designated it a Carrera? So are all cars designated GT a Carrera also?

Getting back to that point at hand, what makes a true Carrera? and how should we judge spare chassis's or complete cars without engines delivered by the factory to customers installing their own running gear?

Okay, I will throw sand at my own statement, it looks like the car had the Carrera badges when raced

Joris,
There were 9 cars besides my 57 Carrera delivered without engine to either racing department ,Racers or Dealers
thru the Carrera years.....

As you know you must be a big shot to pull any car out of the production line let alone a 57 Carrera .That takes a very famous name on the ticket.Jules was very close friend of factory race car driver Huschke Von Hahnstein and great customer buying every 2 years new Porsche and not garage them ,in the first day Jules was hitting
Tulpen Rally ,Tour de Belgium ,Liege Rome liege rallies every year from 1953 till 1969...

This actually the best Carrera to own, no worry about blowing the original motor.
