pre A engine

#1 Post by Manfred Schlueter »

My 1955 continental has a 61 B engine.
Recently I could get a 1955 pre A engine (1500, 55 HP)
(No: 35243) which is only a fre nombers away from my original engine.

However some parts (e.g carburetors) are not original.
I want to restore it to original specs.
Can anybody help with detailed literature for this engine? So I can check what I have, what is wrong and what I have to look for?

Thanks

Factory service manual has some good pictures as well as several books covering the 356(Excellence Was Expected, etc.). I think the main, unique parts are the 32pbj carbs and related balance tube and cross bar, distributor, hard fuel lines, and fuel filter.
