I installed an emergency pull cable on both the front and rear hoods years ago on my Roadster. Until reading this thread, I hadn't lubed them... On a related subject, my (2004) GT3 had the opposite problem recently: hit a bump and the electric latch would "automatically" release. Some lube (Teflon spray that I use on my bike and Roadster Speedo and Tach) sprayed on the latch fixed that one, too.
