The newest 356 is 54 years old as on 1 August 2018. I would remove the engine take the clutch and flywheel off the engine send it out to be resurfaced and probably a new set of ring gear teeth. I would have the starter rebuilt also. Put a new throw out fork in the transmission and install and input shaft seal. Rotate the throw out bearing guide 1/3 and smooth out the ridge that is probably present. At some point in time there will be very few shops that can do this work or may even want to. Your local machinist will not have the experience to do this correctly. Its only money and it is not as much fun to drive money around as it is to drive your Porsche. al zim
