Rear seat storage compartment
I seem to remember someone replaced the rear seatbacks with a folding solid cover and made an extension above the forward rear seat bulkhead to create a storage compartment in place of the useless rear seats. Can anyone point me in the right direction for more information on this modification?

Dean Jeffries built a deck in the rear compartment of his car with storage underneath

Thanks Jack,
That's a little bigger than I remember. The one the other person did was the same height as the rear seatbacks folded down.

Maybe some confusion with the 911 optional rear seat compartment -- photo from early 911 parts catalog

I have this in my roadster. Just reinforced flaps in front, there are no locks or doors but it has served its purpose well.

Thanks Brad and Jules,
You've given me some ideas. Too bad Porsche didn't make something for the 356 as they did for the 911.
Looks like I'll have to fabricate something myself.

Anyone else that has seen some of the things Don has "fabricated ... myself" know's it will be clever, well done, and worth copying.

Re: Rear seat storage compartment
I think Porsche was forced into offering the luggage compartment because of the 1968 DOT changes. rear seats were as much as 'outlawed' for US bound convertibles. It was not available for coupes.DonCichocki wrote:Thanks Brad and Jules,
