A friend asked me about values of Dutch 356 police cars. Does anyone have ideas about wheather the fact that it was originally a police car increases it's value? I'm sure that if it was one of the last 356's made that would boost it's value, but right now I don't have a serial number.

funny man has one! There really aren't too many out there.... so depending on who has it and how bad the new owner wants it. I'd say $200k+

I'm sure if it was one of the 1966 cars it would be more valuable, but putting a number on it depends on quite a number of variables.

IIRC he has the last one made. Probably worth well north of $200K.Jay Wiener wrote:funny man has one! There really aren't too many out there.... so depending on who has it and how bad the new owner wants it. I'd say $200k+

Re: 356 Police Car value
I have a slightly different view. I would expect Police cars under most scenario's not to be worth a premium. I think these cars only appeal to a very small segment of the hobby (read die-hard 356 enthusiasts) and not the wider vintage car community.
I had a similar discussion with a friend recently about the prices of Gmunds. I think they will always be below that of 550's as they appeal to such a small group of people where for a 550 there are many more people out there with deep pockets.
Just my 0.02 cents
