Pre-A maybe ?? is this a Porsche part?

Can any one tell me what the thing with the gray knob is ??? it has a rubber hose connected to the rear .it kind of looks like a small windshield washer pump. i believe the dash is out of a 51 given the metal glove box and the short vents.

'51 owner's manual lists this position as "extra dash button". Backside looks as you say like a hand pump for windshield washers - though I don't know if they had washers on '51s. Could be an aftermarket or dealer installed option. Any markings on the cannister - like SWF?

Yeah, looks like an aftermarket washer pump.

haven't had a chance to look at it yet. ill look later tonight. check out the early banjo that came with the dash did the vws have the same hub as the 356s back in the early 50S this has the 356 splines.
