Spare parts catalog III Question about authenticity

#1 Post by Drew Saunders »

Hi
I'm sure this subject has been covered before but I need some help with a 356A Spare parts catalog that I have acquired.
I have read and re-read Charlie's great 356 literature site and he states that there are three types of catalog, Early, late and Stoddard reprint.

The one I have acquired looks like the Stoddard reprint cover (as per the pictures on Charlie's site) but the first page looks very much original.

Any help or tips on how to date this catalog gratefully accepted.

Looks to be a factory version. The Stoddard reprints had this on the back of title page:

As a matter of interest what difference would it make in terms of a reference book?

Thanks Brad and Charlie
I will take delivery of this catalog tomorrow so I will post some pictures of the inside front page so that we can work out it's origins.
Vincent, I understand your question but I think we all need to understand what is an original factory period publication and one that was reproduced.

Vincent,

There really is no meaningful differences between the original
and the later factory reprints, and the even later Stoddard reprint,
as far as content and usefulness!!

Hi Brad and Charlie
The Catalog arrived yesterday and this is the inside of the first page.
Inside page.jpg
So does this mean that it is an original?
And if so does that mean there are four versions, early, late, this one and the Stoddard reprint?

Hello, I am sure this has been asked before.... but here goes: I came across this spare parts catalog that I have not seen before and after doing a lot of searching I cannot get any further along in my discovery. The binder seems to be one of those older "loose leaf" binders.

Inside, there are some older bulletins.

In addition, the first page of the catalog has "PORSCHE" written in blue, I found that to be interesting since I have not seen that before.

It has only 4 of the 10 sections, so, I am assuming it is missing quite a bit.

It also has an entire section on the 1500 GS Carrera motor.

I am assuming it is authentic, is it?

What is this worth?

How rare is the "1500 GS Carrera" section?

How rare are the bulletins?

Thank you,
Ben
