Question about 1956 coupe seat recliner hinges

#1 Post by Ray Hestand »

My goal is to R & R my 57 Speedster seats with coupe seats. My COA shows my car left the factory with the coupe seat option.
I purchased a pair of 1956 coupe seats and took them apart to have them rebuilt and parts re-chromed. Now I'm trying to re assemble and looking for input on how to put them back together. I bought my parts from Stoddard so I asked them to send info., but what they sent was not very detailed. (On my disassembly I made notes and took pictures but obviously not enough.)
I checked in my 356 Porsche books and none of them have the information needed.
If you could direct me to a site or email me a link that would give me an exploded view of all the pieces, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks for any help on this. Ray

Thanks for that link Doug,
And yes the 1957 looks exactly like mine.
The link was helpful, but I would really like to have an exploded view.
I'm just concerned about getting them together and locked down, then find out I did something backwards.
Would you or any of you other folks be able to send me in the right direction for an exploded view?
Thanks in advance for any advice you might give,
Ray

I just checked my A parts manual. Sorry to say it doesn't show the individual parts but rather the complete recliner.

Maybe if you post pics of the recliner parts, we can collectively figure it out.

I just Googled "356 Porsche seat recliner" and there are numerous pics of recliners showing the internal parts. This might be helpful.

This is what I love about the Registry Talk List: a community of 356 enthusiasts willing to help each other.

Congrats, Ray!
