Re: Willhoit Engine 2.1 L twin plug heater flapper box help

Your car looks fabulous underneath. Do you really drive it or is it a show car? If you don't need a heater, remove the flapper boxes and cap the tube into the cabin as Porsche did on Carreras. Need heat? Add a gasoline heater.

I gather that your Willhoit engine is running hot? A 2.1 does produce more heat but you might want to make sure your "tune" is correct. Lean jetting or retarded ignition timing cause heat. Is the engine pinging under load? You may need to install a remote cooler. If you already have a remote cooler and it is still running hot, you have bigger problems.

My motto...just say no to twin plugs.

Echoing Jim: I'd have your mechanic call John.

I built a 1883 twin plug for my 912. I live in Minnesota so heat is needed. Based upon your pictures, I would say your mechanic has a point. I needed to create a plug opening for #3 that was very far forward, into the heater tube, to gain plug access. My heads were machined by Competition Engineering. The angle on the plugs made this necessary.

Alex; yes mine works just fine. Is is similar to the photos above. I did create a bigger hole to allow easier plug wrench access.

I will check. Its been awhile. Mine is on a 912 flapper box, so that valve may not be an issue

And that's another reason to avoid twin-plug set-ups. Right, Cliff?
