Anyone know what this tool was used for?

You guessed it -- not a 356 tool but for early 911 transmission axle joints. Jon Bunin can tell you exactly how this tool is used. Note the model use/trans types are slightly different.

Brad is correct, but the illustrations in that manual are both for the earlier tool.
P356 on the left, and P356b on the right...

Thanks for the correction, Jon. I got the bit of misinformation out the EBS's currently advertised tool book. I should have merely opened a 911 workshop manual to find the correct information. Of course, your photo of the actual tools was the best.
