Shift Lever Diameter and Threading Reutter vs. Karmann

Is the diameter and threading for a T6B gear shift lever on a Reutter car the same as for a T6C Karmann car?

Mark, I've serviced the bushings on both builds and they take the same part, so the diameter is the same. What 'threading'?
Added by edit:
The subject reads "shift rod", and that was what the above referred to. Your copy says "lever", and having had both, the same applies; the knobs interchange.

I would think all the running gear and mechanicals were the same on both cars. Just the bodies were different.

Threading at the shift knob end.

100% yes, completely interchangeable.

Mark, why don't you edit the title of your original post to read "lever" instead of "rod". That'll eliminate any confusion for somebody searching the subject in the future.

Thanks Sebastian, that's what I thought.

Thanks Wes. I wasn't sure how to do that but going to my first post allows editing of the title. I learned something today!

Thanks for the answers and Mark is assisting me with this. For whatever reason the shift knob that fit his 356 is too small to screw onto my '63 Super. It does not fit.

The only answer is that one of the two of you do not have a factory shift lever or its a factory lever that's been modified. But, for clarification's sake, is it a factory knob?

Sebastian, it is not a factory knob. It is an Amco shift knob.

Those have set screws. Is the screw backed out all the way or still screwed in? If screwed in it will appear to be “too small”.

Edit: Amco shift knobs may have more than one set screw so check for multiples.

Suggested (honest) subject line so the rest of us don't waste time trying to suss out the facts:
"I'm trying to fit an aftermarket shift knob to a T6. Can anyone help"
Thank you and, no, I have no idea why the knob you bought somewhere or other doesn't fit a 356. Why not ask the seller?

Scott,

The next step is to get a factory knob and see if it works. It is now back to only one possibility--either your shift lever is non-factory/modified or Mark's is.
