Screws for sunvisor brackets

#1 Post by Edwin Ek »

Are they Phillips head or slotted? My car is a Roadster, and the big screw on top of the chrome windshield post is slotted. The screws for the top reciever are Phillips.

Checking the B parts manual, I don't see a differentiation for coupes vs. for the sunvisor screws. Section 7/7, #40, part # 900.145.003.02 is a Phillips screw, self-tapping, B 3,5 x 9,5 DIN 7983 verchr (chrome). It states 8 are needed. However, there are none listed for the roadster which is interesting. Section 7/8 covers the roadster dashboard equipment. No sunvisors shown.

I'm not familiar with the roadster. Did they come with sunvisors? If so, my guess is that Porsche used the same brackets and screws to affix them.

Thanks Mike!

Roadsters came standard I think with one sunvisor, for the driver. Fairly often you see them with two installed. I think I have even seen some with no sunvisors and no holes in the windshield frame.

I figured the screw heads would be the same as that of the top receiver.

Hi, Ed:

Doing more research, I Googled the topic. There is an older thread on roadster sunvisors so, yes, they did come with them. The screws for the latches and pulls are all phillips head so I'd go with those for the sunvisors. All that said, I hope someone more familiar with the roadster will weigh in to confirm my opinion.

Usually one sun visor on drivers side. Could be ordered with two. Philips screws from '56 on.

PS. I think so anyway.

I am asking about the screws that fasten the one-hole bracket to the chromed windshield frame.

I believe they are slotted until 1955, Philips after. No Philips on Pre - A cars. ...................Jim.

Well, I just was in touch with the owner of what has to be the most original Roadster in the world, and his car has screws with slotted heads. They could have been changed of course- anything is possible.
