Classifieds seller don't respond

#1 Post by Rich Peters »

Am I the only one that replies to a seller to purchase something that has been put on the classifieds, and never here back from the seller?
Way frustrating to say the least.
I know, I know, maybe he's not replying because he's on vacation, ill, working hard, etc. We've all heard the excuses, but seriously!
If you want to sell something, just send a reply either not for sale or go pound sand or whatever.
But at least send a reply, it's rude not too.

I know a lot of the guys just hit reply, which send a reply to the noreply@porsche356registry.org which bounces it and it goes into their spam folder. You have to hit reply all.
A glitch in the system.

That or your email is the 20th one he received saying "I'll take it!" and he doesn't have the time to reply back to 19 different people that the item sold. The solution to that could be to edit the ad and put "SOLD" in the headline to let the other people know they did not get it. Some sellers already do it but getting every seller on board with that would be tough. It kind just is what it is....

Also folks, you may close your classifieds ads when they sell as well.

Quick reminder. No CAPS in title, put "TBD" in ads without prices, and everything must have a price and be sold to the first person offering the full price. We have had two instances lately of issues between buyers and sellers that have each taken over a week to sort out! One ended in the seller being banned from the classifieds for not following the rules. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to reach out to me rhyshaydon@porsche356registry.org . I always do my best to be fair and listen to both sides equally!

Rhys, you confuse me. " put "TBD" in ads without prices, and everything must have a price" is surely a contradiction. Please elucidate to avoid obfuscation.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

Thanks ~
Patient indeed! I'll get right on this Monday.

Hello David,

When people post a wanted ad they should put "TBD" for "To Be Determined".

Sometimes folks put 356 in the price category and inevitably I get an email saying the guy wont pay $356.00 for the part he is looking for. TBD is just a placeholder, usually for the wanted ads.

Let me know if you have any other questions please,

Rhys,

I am requesting some clarification here. The way I understood it, if you’re selling something there must be a price. We are not allowed to list items at best offer etc., etc. because that’s what auction sites like eBay are for. I understand putting TBD in a wanted ad, but isn’t that not allowed in a for sale listing?

Sebastian,

Sorry for the late response. Yes, all items listed for sale must have prices. For wanted ads TBD is the preferred placeholder.
Please let me know if that doesn't clarify things,

Rhys
