Handbrake adjustment

I have a pre A with C disk brakes / wheels.

The handbrake lever and connecting cables are pre A , difficult adjustment which appears to be all taken up.

The C rear brakes / wheels have adjusters accessible by screwdriver.
I have not tried adjusting them yet , one wheel has weak retardation when handbrake fully on , the other has none. Is the adjustment at the wheel likely to help ?

John I do not know the layout of the front cables in a pre A but I will guess it is probably the same as later cars with an adjuster in front under the beam where the handbrake cable can be tightened, then on the rear of the car where the cables exit the chassis they can be adjusted by changing the length of the outer cable, then of course a small adjustment is possible at the star wheels inside the rear drum. Between the three you should be able to get the adjustment you need as long as the shoes are not worn out.

Hi David , yes you are right and I had researched an earlier thread relating to pre A handbrake adjustment . I have located all 3 adjusters on the cable run , they are maxxed out , in the case of the RH rear the adjuster has come off the thread !
I was wondering how much adjustment is possible on that turnscrew thingy buried in the wheel hub.
Otherwise my DIY solution will be to make up a couple of spacers for the rear cable adjusters.
I have to use trolley jacks and axle stands as my home garage does not have a pit or a lift so it is a bit claustrophobic under there !
